Our dog was good. When we left we told him to mind the house. He would curl up on Dad’s chair and would still be there when we got back. Once he even left a bowl of pretzels untouched.
30 plus years ago we had 2 English Springer Spaniels. There was a sofa in the TV room they were welcome to be on, and a sofa and love seat in the living room that were off limits. And whenever we were there, they followed that protocol exactly. But once we came home unexpectedly and found that “out of sight, out of mind” applied. Ah, well.
