I’ve just been looking at some recent strips. I see that someone commented on Sunday that Fred “must be 35 or 40 by now”. I remember that Fred started in 1963 – the same year as “Doctor Who” – so he is 58 this year.

I looked him up on wikipaedia and I see that the first strip appeared on July 8 1963. I looked up the strip which appeared on Go Comics last Thursday but no one mentioned Fred’s birthday.

It’s a Celt thing.

He’d say ‘thanks a latte’ for his first cuppa of the day.

me and Jock gotta lot in common. I too look grumpy, disheveled, mean, nasty, and very scowly first thing in the morning. I know because I practice before the mirror
