Yes, you were once that age but you have a special talent. Believe it or not, people were all once little kids, but believe me when I say not all adults are good with kids or should have their own. You would be a good daddy.

Watch out for those sharp little first teeth on your ears, Fred.

I like Fred’s stance in the first panel. Our rescue does that. If I ignore her or don’t see her then she’ll growl at me. She wants me to chase her. (Yeah, like I’m gonna run!)

Every Spring my wife thinks about getting a puppy, but good sense has prevailed and we only have three dogs, not 13.

Aw, Fred is such a good boy to play nicely with the puppies – that way the grow up to be nice dogs, not bullies like the gang he and his friends have to deal with now and then.

I note the one puppy hanging on Fred’s ear. Long ago, our Dachshund and his long ears had to put up with that from our Blue Heeler’s puppies. He tried to avoid them but they all followed after him with their needle-sharp puppy teeth. It is amazing what older dogs will (usually) put up with from puppies. I remember our Aussie puppy hanging on to our Bull Terrier’s lip and the BT just accepted it, even though he was trying to walk around (it must have smarted)!
