Not too hard for me to believe. The basset we had when I was a kid was very fast … for a basset, but stuck in slow motion next to most other dogs. Slow is not the same as unmaneuverable. My uncle’s springer, who was very fast, would play tag with Bettsie and kept ending up on his back. He would race up from behind and she would instantly reverse course and bowl him right over.
