This must be pre-sausage era. But soon the merry sound of glistening links chuckling in their pan will mesmerize you. I’m hungry now……

Mrs. Dear is going to be very mad at you, Fred.

Reminds me of a Calvin and Hobbes story arc in which Susie had sent Hobbes a card inviting him to her birthday party. She added “PS You can bring that dumb kid you hang around with if you must!” That was her way of inviting Calvin to her party and many would say that it’s better than Calvin deserved but he seems to be the nearest thing she has to a friend.

Calvin didn’t think much of Susie’s party and told Hobbes that he hoped it was a good cake. Hobbes replied, “I saw it earlier. It was chocolate cake.” Calvin says, “Good. Did you swipe a slice?” In the last panel, Hobbes tells Calvin, “It was delicious.” A voice from outside the panel read, “Hey! Who’s eaten the cake?”

That was so thoughtful of you, Fred. You saved Mrs. Dear the need to feed you AND she now can put away that clean dish :-D

This is obviously from the pre-sausage days! Sausages are funnier, but the lead-in to this was priceless!

Fred, I think you are going to be in trouble – you ate their dinner.
