No excuse for threatening to beat him!

You could keep him in the house surrounded by a gate but not a beating…

I stuck with you when you changed artists and when you made the Mister a crochety old coot, but I draw the line at threats of beatings.

Mr. Dear’s look of worry in the last frame says it all, Fred!

Since I live in the middle of a forest my dog goes on journeys but always come back to the nest, and I have cliffs and bluffs and a lot of wild animals that could kill her, but I can’t fence in the entire wilderness, and she’s fast, a German Shorthair Pointer, she can outrun the Deer and the Coyotes, the Mountain Lions are rare but when they come by she scares them off, all 50 pounds of her.

Alas Mr. Dear, you would be receiving multiple court appearance tickets in this town for violating the leash laws and allowing your animal to be a public nuisance. And if Fred were to be roaming uncollared without his license tag, his stay in the pound would be a short three days before termination.

People who beat a dog for not coming to them, only teach the dog that coming to them results in a beating. So sad and stupid.

He’s not gonna do it folks! When one’s anxiety gets the best of them, one might make all sorts of un-carried-out threats! Mr. Dear made it clear why he was worried! (My cat might be at my feet hiding in plain sight, while I call her in vain…)

This one did not age well.
