Well, gee, Fred. A little self- centered much? Please forgive Mrs. Dear for taking care of her chores and then fixing dinner PLUS she will be giving you yours in a wee bit. I am sure she would have loved to take a bit of time and walked you but she was busy. Get over yourself and see her for what she is – a hard-working, responsible, lov?ing mum to you and wife to Dear.
When I know I have a full day ahead, I usually take my dog for a walk early in the morning so she can see the middle school children at the bus stop. She loves kids. Then I have the rest of the day for what needs done.
Fred Hang in there buddy ! You will get in a walkie ! No matter how busy I am I always try to get the dogs Walkies in. Being in the home most of the day they need to get out ;-)
Maybe she is thinking about it but doesn’t have the time! Women in those days (I’m presuming the 1950s) were housewives, period! My mom (divorced) was different, though. She worked while my grandma did all the house duties.
Newsletter from a convent where I attended a Gregorian Chant retreat some years back just ran an essay about Mary and Martha. Mrs. Dear is acting like Martha.

Then remind her, Fred, for heaven’s sake, instead of grouching. Take your leash to her.

She does look a bit frazzled. Try to remember Fred, that being human is not as much fun as you may think.

If you go to the back door and scratch at it, she’ll let you out in the yard.
