It’s like walking up steep steps. They’ll get you all the time.

I was 12 the first time I climbed Mt. Washington with fellow campers from East Waterford Maine.

You can always blame it on geologic processes, Fred.

But it was a good walk, Fred was happy to go, Mr. Dear didn’t get cranky and they both got good exercise…together. A good Sunday.

The exact same thing happened to my dog and me on the Salish trail in Pacific Spirit Park between the Admiralty trail and Chancellor Boulevard in Vancouver, BC.

No hills to climb in my neighborhood, but I do live on the third floor of an old building with no elevator. So I go down and up three flights of a winding staircase at least two or three times every day. On good days I arrive back home in decent shape; on not-so-good days, I arrive huffing and puffing, but I always arrive, even when loaded down with shopping bags or a large bulky laundry bag.
