My cats understand Supply/demand . I supply when they demand. Tried the squirt gun trick. Luckily we keep bandages in the bathroom. The male allows me almost half the bed. The female won’t give up an inch of the armchair. I used to think mercury was heavy but have you every tried to lift an unwilling cat? Petting is tolerated.
At my house, I am the mom. I provide the food, I provide the hugs, I provide the crunchy treats. And as payment, they don’t ignore me nearly as much as they ignore everyone else.
My cat Joey knew I was in a bad mood yesterday when I got home from work. He came up beside me while I was emptying the dishwasher and stared at me until I reached down to pet him and he stayed there until I had calmed down. He usually wanders off as soon as he’s done being petted, but he knew he was my stress relief.
