Living in the “sticks” does that to you.

Rough years.

He’ll spend his idle moments on a nearby beach with his buddies.

“Hmm…teenage driftwood? Teenage driftwood. Nope, I think we should stick with ‘wasteland’ for that song Roger.”

… but I don’t know where I’m going, I don’t have any goals or any plans. I just thought I’d go out and see where the wind and the waves take me.

On paper? Sigh. There isn’t much of Grandpa Alder left.

Least he’s not a boomerang.

As he lumbers out the door.

He’s gonna float down the stream to meet up with the bald cypress. Then they’re gonna just hang out for awhile.

Pretty much the vox populi of any parents – and yet rarely heeded.

Didn’t he pack his things in a trunk?

Think of us, what would we tell the neighbors when they drift in for tea, sometime today…

Mr. Driftwood doesn’t look like Groucho….

I think he is part of a splinter group……
