It’s called drafting, and it’s illegal in at lot of (most?) triathlon (swim,bike, run) events. Legal in (all?) running and bicycle road race events (it’s a big part of strategy in, for example, the Tour de France bicycle race.
NASCAR does it. Three cars in a line can pass one car, as even the car in front benefits a little from having the car(s) close behind it.
How does that make sense as a disqualification? Are human runners disqualified for being in the airstream of another runner? And doing so automatically prevents them from winning because they have to be behind someone else.
