Well, let’s see. The grandparents are know-it-all bums leeching off their child’s family because they couldn’t manage their own life. Doesn’t stop them from lecturing their hosts about every aspect of life they themselves got wrong, most child-raising and work. The wife/mother is a miserable, soulless specimen who is 100% negative 100% of he time and mean as a snake to boot. The husband/father is a clueless drudge and doormat for his harpy wife. The kid could go either way, but he’s probably doomed by example. The only reason I read this one is I suspect “real life” comic strips are used by frustrated artists to reflect on and complain about their own lives, much like the overt husband hate in the later years of For Better or Worse, after the artist’s divorce. It just can’t be merely some perverted notion of what’s funny. It’s hardly ever funny. Poor devil.
