Slack those layabout parents out of the house, first. They’re fully capable of caring for themselves. Then, put that layabout kid to work around the house. It’s his butt will be going to college. Jeeze. Another whiny martyr. Must be a gene on the X chromosome.

@MeGoNowIf I remember correctly, from reading the very beginning of the strip, which I can’t find now, go figure, the parents couldn’t stay in their house anymore and moved in with them. I didn’t think she was taking care of them. I’m sure if she got a job, everyone in the house would pitch in to help. I know the grandmother would.Long before automation, most women were still working getting things in order for the next morning before they went to bed. The saying “Man works from dawn to dusk, but woman’s work is never done” is basically true. A little help from the other family members would be most appreciative in a three generation household.

I thaught Laura was working at the beginning of this strip as well. (I remember her loading a brief case etc., guess it was Stan’s) However, since she isnt, she needs to be. Mom can take care of the cooking since they have had time to work on each other in the arena of the kitchen war-zone. Mom will be more concientious, and Sarah will learn to relax some. (which everyone here knows she needs more than we need rain) Grandpa can learn to vacuum, and do the lawn mowing etc so when the weekend comes, Sarah is happy to do the cooking, Grandparents can relax, Dad can relax knowing everything is done, (sorely needed) Grandma and Granpa are happy to be needed and making a contribution, Nate is met by grandparents after school and they do the all the runs to various lessons and sporting events. Extended families work! Nate is one lucky guy if this is worked properly.
