It is frightening how frequently our electoral system already is blatantly manipulated by both parties (gerrymandering) and how easily it can manipulated in other ways – changing voter eligibility requirements, providing deceptive information about eligibility or polling places and/or dates, deliberately limiting the availability of voting machines in certain areas, etc., etc. Those who are in power have too much control and influence over how elections are held. Political boundaries should be based on consistent rules that blindly draw the lines based solely on factors such as population distribution, recognizable existing jurisdictional boundaries (municipal boundaries, zip codes, etc.), and a desire to keep the areas as “simple” as possible (by, say, seeking to minimize the ratio between the length of the perimeter and the area of the district). Consistent standards should be applied to all polling places throughout the country for any nationwide election, with Fed $ assistance if necessary in a time of cash-strapped localities. Citizens of a city that’s too poor to afford well-equipped and staffed polling places shouldn’t have a harder time voting than citizens in an affluent community.
How quickly you forget Algore and his I’m taking my football and going home rant. Or the 8 year long Demoncratic rant about that election. Oh, I’m sorry, the Demoncratic rant that still goes on today. So quit your finger pointing and clean your own house before you start making such broad and idiotic statements.
