In reality, the retirement scheme is much worse. This comic is from 2012 and things have been not bad since then. Anytime someone is let go from a company is usually a disaster. Many of my friends are still working at close to 40+ years at their current company with many more to go until they can retire, if ever. Ed is pointing out a retirement crisis and he is spot on.

I’ve already given up on being able to retire. I’m facing a cancer diagnosis now, which really nails down that coffin.
