In the blog, Teresa calls for submissions of recordings similar to the voice mails she’s posted. I’m not sure whether this fits the bill or not, but here are some messages left on my machine by legendary phone phreaker and hacker John “Captain Crunch” Draper in the early 1990s:

Let’s go to the mat, baslim! A rip-off of Lio?! Lio isn’t the only pantomime strip, and Teresa has used pantomime before in FA, just not very often.

Maybe the dead-wishing bird has a life insurance policy on the lovebird.

Teresa, your art has been fascinating lately. I keep a few public collections, and your drawings are very well represented in my “cool drawings” folder.

“Why Does Daddy Sleep So Much?” - because he DID take some of those Vitasafe pills before the government shut them down…

    U.S. vs. Vitasafe

Ushindi… is that squirrel drinking what I think he’s drinking? Or have I had too many?

…and I believe Daddy sleeps so much because he does not have a nice balcony.

“Why Does Daddy Sleep So Much?” reminds me of Uncle Shelby’s ABZ book, in which he urges children to get the scissors and give daddy a haircut while he’s napping on the couch.

Uncle Shelby’s ABZ book sounds like some pretty twisted literature for children, Suit. Didn’t you write once that you were a midwesterner? I am, and I don’t think my old man would have appreciated the haircut while napping on the couch. Besides, if we did it everytime, pops woulda been sporting the skinned cat look. How about it?

shytimes2… I have no idea where you are in this world, but if you were within pub distance, we’d be throwin’ back some hops right now!

A midwesterner? Nope, you must have me confused with somebody else. I’m a native San Franciscan.

Bristow: Unless my mind has wandered down the dark paths of senility, I believe Flight Suit was referring to Shel Silverstein, one of the gods I worshiped in my youth. Gahan Wilson, Buck Brown, Feiffer…it honestly was NOT just for the centerfolds (although of course they had a certain influence).

FS: I can remember taking a wrong turn on occasion and ending up at the top of a hill, at a red light, on my motorcycle with a young lady on the back, and trying my best not to kill the engine, not to roll back down this 75 degree slope, and actually get the bike rolling up when the light finally turned green. I sure hated that, but sometimes it was difficult to remember exactly where I was. The salt air, probably, or maybe the fog…

    shytimes2: I don’t believe you (but I’ll certainly give you a chance.)

Teresa, again you honor me! I’m not worthy, I’m not worthy!

In answer to your question, I recommend iMovie HD, which I think was version 6 of iMovie. After that, Apple completely ruined it and turned it into a much less powerful, more consumer-grade thing. Apple users were so up-in-arms over the change that Apple made a free download of iMovie HD available to anybody who’d purchased a new Mac or made the mistake of replacing HD with the new iMovie.

Not sure if they’re still doing that, but look around for it.

Major hint: When making movies, always export your audio to its own track before applying transition filters. Otherwise the dissolves or other transitions will mess up your audio in strange ways.

By the way, that video of mine is actually one small part of a much larger work, containing many more bizarre messages accumulated on my answering machine during my glorious youth:

Thanks again for including my stuff in your awesome blog!
