The photo in Frog Blog is actually a ride known as the Caterpillar, a circular ride with undulations that has an awning envelop the coaches midway through the ride. I describe this ride in Chapter 3 of my book ‘Listening To Ghosts.’ (sorry for the shameless promotion).
Other blog notes:
to all Congressional people see how the goat is getting a free lunch.
the eagle cam is great.
Mr. Peabody everyone’s favorite know it all.
Call the roller coaster the most fun they had in years.
Salt Lake City’s Lagoon amusement park has one of those rides - it’s called Musik Express. The official park description says “Rapidly turns in a circle while oscillating up and down. For those in the outside seat, prepare to be squished!”
Re: “Dogs Wearing Glasses.” Looking at the last dog reminds me of something a friend once said to me: “If my dog was as ugly as you, I’d shave his butt and teach him to walk backwards.”
Re: Blog Re:I really don’t know what to call it.
Think that’s the “Caterpillar” from “Riverview Park” Chicago circa 1950’s.. A tame ride that went in a circle, as it picked up speed the awning or canopy seen on the inside would cover the cars… Gave the riders a little “tunnel of love” time….
Because of your Great Shakes blog my significant other wants to know why I had the blender and ice cream out at 6 AM. She does not accept FB as an excuse.
Great blog today! Interesting, bizarre, amusing, nostalgic. The “Kiss” was great, much more innocent than it could have been.
I wonder if the Fox Theater in Detroit was one of those that folded. It was right downtown, and I sometimes took a date to a first-run movie there when I felt I could splurge. It had (maybe “has”) a huge lobby with a great crystal chandelier. Guys wore a coat and tie, girls wore heels. There was also the “Music Hall” which did plays and occasional special movies (like 3-D).
It’s been a long time since I’ve been to Detroit. I’m sure now that I’ll never go back.

Is there a cheat sheet for today’s FA?

The pineal gland is believed by some to be a third eye.

I’d rather meet an ecdysiast than an eccedentesiast any day…

Yesterday it was spork abuse. Today it’s weasel whoppers. What’s next? Desecration of National Grilled Cheese Month?
P.S. I wonder if the goat can sing?

I sense a certain amount of pineal envy going on here, like I’ve never felt since I first read Kafka’s ”In The Pineal Colony”.

I doubt anyone but me is actually interested, but the Fox is still there:
