Dear FA Friends of Rotifer ThalwegAs many of you know, Rotifer has been battling a debilitating addiction for quite some time. After treatment overseas last year, he seemed to be doing much better. But, of course, all addicts live in fear that something will set them off.Sometime within the last few hours Rotifer (a Frog Blog addict too) saw a Pasta post on the Blog that sent him straight to an all night convenience store in Shamrock, Texas that sells bootleg vermicelli from a pasta den in the rear of the building.We’ve done another intervention. I cannot count the number of times I walked under that RKO Palace marquee. I miss the City.

I knew someone in New Mexico who kept a shotgun under her bed. Not someone you would want to surprise. But she is the nicest lady.

I think my favorites on the blog are the pictures of the vividly colored buildings, neighborhoods, whatever that is in Yenii Cami.

I have driven through (or rather, by) Shamrock, Texas many times traveling on the interstate. Only stopped a couple of times, though. Really surprised to see it mentioned here! Now if I could only remember where I was going when I was going through there.

But I don’t need any of it because I have a look that kills.

The Yeni Cami is one of Istanbul’s most visible landmarks, right at one end of Galata Köprüsü (The Galata Bridge, spanning the Golden Horn.) It sits to the north of the Mısır Çarşısı (Egyptian Bazaar, or Spice Bazaar,) one of my favorite places in the city to visit.

Iranian Saffron is around $250.00 per ounce here in the US, but you can buy it for a (relative) song in the Spice Bazaar. The Turkish dried apricots are massive and delicious, and the scent of the entire place is divine…

With that " looks could kill " look , you don’t need any guns ..
