Re: Scoville; Me likes the spicy more than most and I often visit Scoville. The hottest I have eaten is the honorable habanero. I did try some sauce made from the ghost pepper (Bhut Jolokia), the previous record holder, but it was not in its’ pure raw state. Still, it was some fiery goodness. A good sweat is underrated. So many of life’s finest pleasures culminate in a good sweat. The fishes don’t know what they’re missin’.

Teresa, bless you for posting the article on name-calling. The Greeks have a saying: “η γλώσσα κόκαλα δεν έχει και κόκαλα τσακίζε” (The tongue has no bones, but it breaks bones.) Would that people would understand this.

I don’t think the preacher was admonishing “The Born Loser” strip or its creator. It seems that he is using it as an example from which he launches a sermonette on abusive language. I’d say he hit a home run. I hadn’t heard about the brain damage, but we do often read about young people committing suicide because of bullying, even on-line bullying, which is nothing but words. So yeah, words are heavy, and it’s a good lesson.

My baby brother caught his hair on fire when he was 4 and looked just like that….. imho, I <3 The Bolg: always good for a laugh…. sometimes I lamely wander aimlessly… caught up for twenties of minutes following endless Beatles videos or shook down by some hometown kick-bottom blues… glazedly gazing upon amazing art by those of whom I never heard… fun stuff. thank you, Teresa

@INGSOC: whoa, today’s family memories….. when I was 17 & fell asleep on the couch, my stepdad lit a match between my bare toes. I moved out soon thereafter with the first boy out of town… life is good
