So, if I’m reading this rightly, are we “down on Teresa”? Does this elevator have a fan, please? Old elevator-music with sabotaged lyrics and unpleasant odors are enough to make one reach for the

    emergency help phone!

@Teresa- How cruel. After reading the latest FA, I dutifully clicked the chicken to check the latest blog update, only to be informed by Blogger that I am no longer invited to do so. Imagine my embarrassment and heartbreak! Please say that this is merely a time-out, and not a permanent banishment! I don’t think I did anything to deserve this.

Oh boy. The Google Blogger overlords have seen fit to mess with Teresa’s world. This is what I get when I attempt to access Frog Blog:

This blog is open to invited readers onlyhttp://obituarytypo.blogspot.com/

It doesn’t look like you have been invited to read this blog. If you think this is a mistake, you might want to contact the blog author and request an invitation.

Very mysterious, guys. The message I got said something to the effect “you must sign in with your Blogger account”; I did that and got redirected to another page that said "sorry, the page you requested does not exist’; but there was upon it a hotlink to “the blog homepage” which took me to Frog Blog! Yay! Then, after i logged out, I tried to Cluck Cluck again and, behold!, I went straight to the Frog Blog! —It’s all very strange….

Might Teresa’s blogspot account have been hacked? She said in the blog yesterday that there was what she thought was a mirror of her blog site with the “.nl” suffix, which is the Netherlands url suffix. They have just as many hackers there as they do in Russia and China. Or she might just be messing with the preferences menu.

Re: DIZZY GILLESPIEI remember the first time I met Dizzy. I was in college, and he played a concert date there. I had the opportunity to speak to him, afterwards. What an incredibly gracious man ! Two things always amazed me ( aside from his incredibly great jazz ) was the shape of his horn and how he could expand his cheeks. Obviously, from the picture, I wasn’t the only one.

No problem accessing Frog Blog this morning – I’m about to clear all my cookies and see if that makes a difference. One problem understanding that linked SEO article is that it’s written in hideous English by someone from India; the thing to remember about Panda is that it was designed to penalize low-quality sites with worthless content – Frog Blog would likely see no impact at all from it. Penguin was targeted at black-hat SEO tactics like keyword stuffing, and a few other things like that – since Frog Blog doesn’t do that either, I’m thinking that the failure to crawl is not related to either of these two updates.

For some reason, I really liked this FA. No trouble with the blog. September 23rd will be a sad day – last day of Cul-de-Sac. Darn Parkinson’s! Best of luck to Richard Thompson in his retirement.

My favorite quote from the play Inherit The Wind has the Clarence Darrow-like character calling the hypocritical sermonizers : " …a bunch of barnum-bunkum , bible-beating bastards…"

Readers: Do not be alarmed……..but word has it that a herd of pandas and penquins sitejacked the blog and absconded to the Netherlands with it. They may or may not have taken Teresa with them. We’ve assigned a crew, Stupidity and Malice, to the case and will report back when we have further updates. …Please be patient.

Several years ago I worked as an art director for a magazine publisher who had second floor offices just above a well traveled street corner. From 10 am ‘til 3 pm every day a “street” preacher stood on that corner with a bible in his hand, shouting his relentless sermon. What I remember most is that he seemed to be obsessed with the end of time. The man had the best lungs I’ve ever witnessed and his message invaded every nook and cranny of our floor. It was nearly impossible to have a conversation or productive meeting. We tried to persuade him to move to another corner … no dice. After several complaints to the city he was finally convinced by a loud noise charge … he might have been fined, I don’t know, but he did remove himself to a corner a couple of blocks away.

Interesting. Never noticed the address of the Frog Blog until the recent discussion about .nl. I get Frog Blog at http://obituarytypo.blogspot.ca/ – which, considering I live in Canada is not a surprise. If I try to access the .com directly I get redirected to .ca. Fun stuff this mirroring.

If I may come out of “lurk” for this one…waves hello From everything I’ve read about the blog access here, it seems as if some users are getting a redirected chicken link to the mirrored site that asks them to log in. Is that login screen a valid one for blogspot, or is the mirrored site trying to steal passwords to hijack more blogs? I would (try) to get someone from blogspot on the phone to ask them what’s going on and get the other page taken down.

What could possibly more congenial than a cramped elevator and the chance to exchange foul gases with fellow elevator passengers? Thus neutralising the cabbage fart with ever more interesting aromas?

FROG BLOG re: ButtonIt reminds me of something that happened 6 or 7 years ago:The school in which I teach was built in the mid-seventies. In the room that was originally the front office (and has since been many things; at the time of this story, it was the teachers’ lounge) had a button on the wall marked “Civil Defense.” We had the microwave on a shelf next to it, so everyone would stare at the button and wonder what it did as they waited for their food to heat. (See where this is going, yet?) So, one day, one of the fifth grade teachers pushed it.It set off the fire alarm. The principal came flying out of her office, nearly having a heart attack….

Dizzy got his start with the Cab Calloway Orchestra but was forced to leave when he stabbed Calloway (superficial wound) during an altercation.
