What’s next – are the usual suspects, or their accomplices, squirreling away garden implements, or sandbox toys, or small lawn ornaments? Stop the insanity!
Officials are pushing for the installation of clothespin cameras, a network of high definition closed circuit systems to record and document all acts of clothespin thievery. The full council will meet on Friday to vote on funding for the system, which will be wireless and stream video to a secure off-site location through a cellular network, to prevent tampering by an apparently devious and sophisticated clothespin theft ring. A one-time tax levy of $237 per household is expected to be passed to fund the installation, as well as an ongoing annual maintenance cost of $4.50 per household, to be added to the annual real property tax bill. Authorities, meanwhile, are conducting an extensive and exhaustive investigation, using all means at their disposal, considering this to be one of the most serious problems of the current fiscal year.
In case anyone is interested, “trebuchet” was mentioned over at Cul de Sac today (and somewhere out there in the ether, a ripple of nostalgia rolled through the site f/k/a Frog Blog).
