It is those boogers on a string thst my noseless brother could run back and forth through his snout opening. My the lift of that in the longests winter days was imploding.
The Mrs thought winters would be longer and colder when we moved from San Francisco to Vancouver Island. Not much colder and not much longer. But because we are on the east coast of the island and are in the rain shadow, less frizzy weather. So there is another win.
D’accord! Up here, in the wasteland called Chicagoland, the season of winter lasts for a good (actually, bad) six months of the year, roughly November through April, if not longer. And yes, it is SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) for us. I have sampled living in south-central Texas and in a Mediterranean climate overseas, and find myself Illogical for remaining here but for familial ties and inertia. From a high some years ago of about 3.25M, Chicago itself has lost half a million in population and slipped from true Second City to third behind NY and LA and is projected to continue its slide to fourth (behind also Houston). Sure, High Taxes and Corrupt Government have something to do with it, but the insalubrious weather is a factor, too. ’Tain’t funny, McGee!

Fortunately, I am compelled to go out in the cold to assure my nose runs. ’Snot funny.

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree,
Merry merry king of the bush is he.
Laugh, Kookaburra, laugh, Kookaburra,
Gay your life must be!
