For JonD17 who asked for my lasagna recipe yesterday
Alondra’s Lasagna
1 lb. ground beef or turkey
1 small onion, diced
1 28 oz. can tomatoes
1 12 oz. can tomato paste
1 tablespoon sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon oregano leaves
1/2 teaspoon thyme leaves
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
1 bay leaf
2/3 of a 16 oz package lasagna noodles (about 14 noodles)
2 eggs
1 15 oz. container ricotta cheese
1 16 oz package mozarella cheese
In 5 quart Dutch oven over high heat cook ground beef and onion til pan juices evaporate and beef if browned. Add tomatoes with liquid and next 8 ingredients.
Heat mixture to boiling, stirring to break up tomatoes. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Discard bay leaf. Tilt pan and spoon off fat. Cook lasagna noodles as label directs, drain well in colander.
In 9 x 13 baking dish, arrange half of drained lasagna noodles, overlapping to fit. Preheat oven to 375.
In small bowl, combine eggs and ricotta cheese. Spoon half of this mixture over lasagna noodles in baking dish.
Sprinkle with half of the mozarella cheese, top with half of the sauce. Repeat layers. Bake for 45 minutes. Remove from oven, let stand 10 minutes before serving.
I have often made this ahead and refrigerated it before baking. In that case bake it for an hour.
Macushlalondra, Very similar to my recipe, but I use fresh crushed garlic in place of the garlic salt. Sometimes I’ll make 2 pans and freeze one. Thanks for sharing!
I am needing one lasagna receipe that is different. Stoffers had in for Lean Couisne chicken lasagna like comfort food. Sadly it was discontinued. Spinich is used.
I hope everyone who tries my recipe will enjoy it. I don’t always use all the spices here and now that I’m in Canada I will probably not be able to make it this way again due to the packaging being different than it was in the states. I’m gonna have to fiddle around with it some and hope for the best.
As for being fattening well just consider it a splurge for special occasions.

The recession is even hitting Garfield. Jon will be budgeting, so Garf can look forward to lasagna made with kraft singles and ketchup. YUM! ;)

Awesome recipe - thanks!
Dog will each homework for food? Wrong dog - most will do it for nothing.

I wonder if Garfield’s homeless sign would be “Will sleep, watch TV, and annoy owner for lasagna”
