I love Garfield’s expressions in the lower panels. He reminds me of the dog that appeared occasionally in the Quick Draw McGraw cartoons. :-)

After all these years Jon should know never, never talk about food when Garfield is in the room (or even in earshot).

Jon was taking his chances even THINKING about food within thought wave range of a cat!
