I might get me a box like that. It must be Walt’s longevity secret. When Tomoji Tanabe dies, Walt will be the oldest man in the world, and he’s not too far behind Gertrude Baines as the oldest person in the world.

For the love of God, NotNorman, will you let it GO already?! Gertie can’t possibly know every single bit of minutiae about Walt’s life. Tidying up is part of her job as his caretaker. She almost threw out an 85-year-old cardboard box because she didn’t realize it was important. Now she knows, everything’s fine now, LET IT GO. In the four years since Gertie was introduced, she has never been anything but kind and gentle to Walt, and she clearly feels real affection for him. She’s a sweet person and one of the best characters to be introduced into the strip in decades.

Hey, NotNorman! I’m not sure just where you stand on Gertie? Could you try to NOT sugar coat your feelings and tell us all how you REALLY feel?

Wait, what’s Gertie doing with that pillow in panel 3? It looks like she’s planning to smother Walt with it!! Just kidding, I wanted to try being a ‘loose cannon’ amid the sane comments… it’s the right day for that anyway.

The really nice thing about that box, is that it can never go empty! Better than IHOP’s bottomloss pot of coffee… and less habit-forming; or is it more?
