The guy behind the counter is like some public employees I’ve run into ( an unemployment office employee told me once that I might not get any benefits after the factory I had been working at for nearly 20 years closed up and moved to the east coast)! No respect for the people who provide the business that pays their salaries!!!
That sounds like a job offer in the last panel… I wonder if Slim will pick up on it. While a teen, I got my first job when shopping at CVS. An assistant manager walked up to me and asked me to move some empty cartons out of the aisle. When I said I didn’t work there, he apologized and explained that they had just hired a bunch of people as Christmas help, and he didn’t know them all yet. Then he said, “Would you LIKE to work here?”
That’s a good story, axe. I have actually been waited on by another customer in one of the big box hardware stores. He was a contractor and knew where everything was.
The people who run places with sorry service should be glad somebody like Slim is around to keep the line moving. Health department laws notwithstanding.

He’s wearing a uniform so they assume he works there. I’ve had that happen to me in stores even if I wasn’t wearing a uniform.

It looks like Slim is being drafted into the food service! The manager, sensing that Slim knows food, mistakes him for an employee.

I’ve stood in a line like that at Phillipe’s in LA near Union Station. Best french dip on the planet (they claim to have invented it.)

Offering Slim Skinner a job in the food services industry?! This way lies madness… not to mention bankruptcy!

I’d like to see a storyline with Slim as the new NutriSystem spokesperson.
