Yeah Barbie and I are both 50. I wonder how she looks. Maybe they should make a 50 year old Barbie for us 50 year olds!

Yes, Clovia was born 5/18/49 and doesn’t look a day over 40. Jim continues to draw his main characters youthful. By the way Skeezix and Nina married on 6/28/44 and Walt married Phyllis 6/26/26.

Actually, Clovia was born on Sunday, 05/15/49, in the back of a cab headed for the hospital. There was a traffic jam, and a police officer was called over by the driver to make the delivery. Afterwards, when a woman asked him if it was a boy or girl, the officer replied (in the eleventh and final panel), “I don’t pay attention to unessential details, lady.” No wonder Clovia has an affinity for cars.

How many years has it been since we’ve seen Clovia’s brother Chipper (born April 1, 1945)?

Did they ever find out who kept leaving babies for Walt to find? Did Walt and Phyllis have any biological children?

Is there a way to search the trip, perhaps using the tags? Otherwise what good is the tag?

I think Corky is the biological child of Walt and Phyllis (?)… Skeezix was left on the doorstep, and Judy left in Walt’s car. I think that when Skeezix was young, a woman turned up claiming to be his mother, and challenging Walt’s custody. Anybody remember?

Here’s an overview of such issues: http://tinyurl.com/nxlwdy

As for tags, I have no idea at all!

My memory is gone mostly, but I was lucky enough to have that very 1949 Sunday comic at hand!

Corky yes the biological son born to Walt and Phyllis. Aunt Phyllis was the real biological Aunt to Skeezix whose real mother was Helene Octave and sister of Phyllis. Ahead of his time King had Octave an opera star give up Skeezix due to her fame and unwed status. When she later married Col. Coda Skeezix real father she wanted him back thus the court custody battle.

And we didn’t find out that Phyllis was actually Skeezix’s aunt until he read it in her letters after she died.

Since Drawn & Quarterly collects two years’ worth of dailies in each “Walt & Skeezix” volume, we should get to see the court battle in the next couple of books…however long it takes for them to come out.
