Awful. Just awful. None of the other classic comic strips came to a sad, tasteless end like this.
I wish Scancarelli had the nads to retitle the strip, take out the superannuated GA cast who are just a bunch of featureless zombies now anyway, and see how it stands up on its own. It wouldn’t last six months.
I stil think this is Gerties dream, no animal trainer is that good that they would all stay together. If he ‘s that good they would not have wondered off in the first place
Geez, everyone, can’t you go two days without seeing Walt Wallet in a comic strip? If the Wallets were the only ones ever in the strip, you’d probably complain that Scancarelli had no original ideas and just coasted in the innovations of his predecessors.
It would be interesting to see the commentors come up there own comic strip not to infrindge on the artist who creates them. And also not to make all negative.
So now the trainer shows up hope he gets fined for what he put Mr. Walt through.
Clyde Beatty (June 10, 1903 – July 19, 1965) joined the circus as a cage cleaner as a teen and became famous as a lion tamer and animal trainer. He also was a circus impresario who owned his own show that later merged with the Cole Bros. Circus to form the Clyde Beatty-Cole Bros. Circus.
Beatty became famous for his “fighting act”, in which he entered the cage with wild animals with a whip and a pistol strapped to his side. The act was designed to showcase his courage and mastery of the wild beasts, which included lions, tigers, cougars, and hyenas, sometimes brought together all at once in a single cage in a potentially lethal combination. At the height of his fame, the act featured 40 lions and tigers of both sexes.
Such was Beatty’s fame that he appeared in films from the 1930s through the 1950s and on television until the 1960s.
(What all this has to do with the story arc at hand? I have no idea where this is supposed to be going.)
Surprised Joe Allen Doty didn’t come up with Clyde Beatty ‘s name. Must be i’m 2 decades older.
Since it took awhile for my password to work I wanted to coment on a Sunday strip where they were milking the cow on the wrong side. Its mount a horse on the left , milk a cow on the rightside, and yes put the cows tail crimped under your left knee at the same time. Maybe Jim Scancarelli didn’t know that.
