Man, mrbribery, then it’s one of those time paradoxes that I can never follow. It looks as if Slim will have to go back in time wearing Gertie’s wig and a house frock, cough up the horseshoe and nail it to Captain Jack’s horse. While he’s there, I wouldn’t be surprised if he becomes his own great-great… grandfather!
The shoe was thrown, replaced by the blacksmith, so how does that leave the blacksmith with a trophy? Maybe Jack went looking for the lost horseshoe, brought it, but she used a new one?
Buzzdog, it’s true a *lady * wouldn’t have displayed her elbows. But it’s not too likely a lady would have become a farrier either. My guess is Cashmere is not a member of the upper class but one of the common folk. Kind of like the Wallets of today.

I see more of Slim there, which is why I thought it might turn out to be a time loop… Slim hears the story, travels back to the 1700s and actually is the one to make it happen– as happened in Moorcock’s great story, Behold the Man.

Apparently Cashmere Wallet married a Mr Farrier.

Um, wait – is this the shoe his horse threw? How’d she find it? Backtrack down the road he came in on?
Or maybe it’s the one she sold him, and he brought it back for replacement/repair later?
“Farrier” deals in ferrous metals, especially on hooves.

Actually, on Feb 4 we saw that it came off the horse, skipped thru time, and ended up in Slim’s mouth…

And I don’t think a woman of the 18th century would have shown her arms…

A woman who was a farrier would be very unconventional and probably proud of those biceps.
