Remember this Strip is set in the early 1900’s, not the early 2000’s. Back then, suits (law) were reserved for important issues. Not like today where everyone wants a lot of money for nothing. YUCK.
@BlackHawkDon, these folks are aging more or less in real time, so they are int he 21st century – but you may be right about the lawsuits…if they’re lucky, maybe most people where they live (wherever that is) are not litigious. Would that were true everywhere!

Rufus and Joel probably haven’t even noticed the recession. It seems as if they lived simply and day to day even in the best of economic times.
