Not only the long lost characters should be brought back to the strip but reality in the time line should be reinstated.
How many here remember Grandfather Clock? When his time came the death, funeral, and reaction of the relatives was handled with a dignity not seen in this strip for a long time. I love Walt but what is he now 110?
I think that the vast majority of long time GA followers would accept the passing of Walt if handled properly and did not result in additional (if that is possible) Slim stories.

The reason there are so many Smiths is that originally, everyone was named Smith. As people sinned, they had to change their names.(It might have been the other way around)
