The women will pick a color. Slim will apply it to the walls, and then they won’t like it. They will blame Slim, not their choice of color. I hope I’m wrong.
When a space is renovated for rental, the tenant usually pays for or does the renovations. The landlord is not responsible for renovating the space for a different type of business unless it is in the lease. Slim is right. Those women need to do their own work. I can see this whole thing becoming Slim as the handyman/heavy lifter/go-fer for these women while his own business slides into oblivion.
I have lately been thinking they ought to grab Billy Gardell (of Mike and Molly) and make a Gasoline Alley movie with him starring as a young Walt based on the early days of the strip. In some pictures he looks a lot like the reprints I have seen.
I don’t see how that many women can expect to make a paycheck from a one room store the size of a garage wash bay. Even if they could get along with each other long enough to turn a profit.
And if Slim is going to be catering to their needs, who repairs the cars which are supposed to be his and Clovia’s bread and butter?
