Well “My Three Sons” actually featured four sons. The original sons were Mike (Tim Considine), Robbie (Don Grady), and “Chip” (Stanley Livingston). When Tim Considine left the show (after a fight with producer Don Fedderson over wanting to direct but not act in the series; this coincided with the departure of William Frawley and the series moving to CBS from ABC), the fourth son Ernie (Barry Livingston) was adopted by the Douglas family.

Indentured service transitioned to slavery when plantation owners (white & black) pretended that their servants term hadn’t ended yet. Indefinitely.
