If Nina would quit dying her hair it would be white or silver.

Oh yes, do I love thrift stores. That’s why I work at one.

Always enjoyed looking at clothes at donation stores. Found a wonderful suit that fit perfectly. It was marked down from 50 cents to a quarter for quick sale. Wore it to work next day, &received rave comments until I made the mistake of boastingabout the price. It became instant ugly. should have said it was $500 & marked down to $495.

I used to haunt thrift shops looking for wild 40’s and 50’s ties, which I wore one time only to a weekly staff meeting at the mall I worked at. My job was blue collar and t-shirt work, but I was still head of landscaping and wrote an article for the monthly newsletter. Once, ten minutes into a meeting, I said, “I’m hot, I’m taking this off.” I took off the tie and shirt and had another tie and shirt on underneath. That broke up the meeting for a few minutes. So remember, layering can be an important technique.

I found a 1950’s style tuxedo in a thrift store for $5, then spent another ten or so for new suspenders for it. I wore it to a wedding once, under overalls. I peeled out of the overalls when I arrived, like Abbot and Costello. After I got married, my wife shoots me down every time I suggest wearing it. We don’t go out much any more.

Characters make a difference. With Skeezix and Nina, that was a cute little strip. Jim could’ve set up the punchline with Slim & Clovia and it would’ve seemed dumber.

It is obvious that Nina has dyed her hair for years. At over 90 Jim should let her now be natural at silver or white. Slim and Clovia look more like a couple in their 40s instead of 60s. There hasn’t been a death since Aunt Phyllis. Why not put an end to Judy whose about 80 now and we hardly ever see her so make some room for newer characters and let her go.

Judy is 81, and her passing was something I was considering when I still thought I had time to write alternate stories in the comments. (I had a death-of-Walt storyline planned out that I thought would have sent him off in a respectful manner.)
