    Poncho just walk away and go to the café. You are at the back of the line and those two pea-brains will never notice that you are gone. This way you can tell the other dogs of your great escape from the cat search :-)

    To clarify -

    A petard was a bomb or explosive device, used to force access to a castle or fortified position. Thus, “Hoist by one’s own petard” means blown up by one’s own bomb, or more generally, as in this case, injured by one’s own cleverness.
