It’s not “feeling” what others are “feeling” as presented here in Gasoline Alley. It’s like when someone else touches their face you feel the touch on your face.
According to Ripley’s Believe It or Not, Dr. Joel Salinas, a neurologist at Massachusettes General Hospital in Boston, has mirror touch synesthesia. He experiences the physical sensations of his patents and others.
I have a different flavor of synesthesia. To me, abstract concepts have genders. Seven is male. M is female. February is female. Saturday is male. I know perfectly well that it isn’t actually true, but I still “believe” it, and have since I was—oh—eight or so at the most. There’s more weirdness in the human brain than we understand.

Remember the “Rule of Funny” can be cruel to the characters controlled by it.
