The nurse in my doctor’s office has tested me with the same three words for at least ten years: APPLE, PENNY, TABLE. And each time I remind her of that she agrees she needs to change them. But what if she does and I find I’m demented???
Not wishing to brag (too loud), I always pass that test with flying colors. When it’s done I always ask the nurse something like, “Would you like to hear the books of the Bible backwards?” or “Would you like me to list the Presidents of the United States?”
I had to take that test once and I couldn’t remember any of the three words. But somehow I passed it anyway they let me into the old peoples home in spite of myself
I have to do what Slim does write it down. Dr. we go to did have a woman who works with Medicare did that memory test for age 70 and over, my hubby had to do that test, I told nurse and Dr. I fail that test. The lady quit after a year.
This strip reminds us about Slim’s age, despite the daily strip portraying him as somewhat younger – with an apparently-healthy mom! The Wallet family tree shows Clovia as 71 years old, so Slim can’t be too far off that.
Chipper looks older than he actually is (born in ’45)….always happy to see him on the rare occasions when he turns up in the strip…my fellow “War Baby”!
