Quell surprise. Not. Now get ready for Gertie’s left-right combo.

Here is the reference comment for people who want to read about and discuss the history of Gasoline Alley and allow them to put their comments in replies. Those who don’t can bypass the discussion by leaving the replies closed. Fair for everyone, I think.

But Gertie was watching them the entire time they were trying to park (as seen on last Monday’s strip). So how did she not recognize her own car right there, nor see that it got scratched?

They are busted! Now the fun begins. They probably don’t have any insurance.

100: (For those without access to the strip) Walt, baby Skeezix and Rachel are out in the car, and Rachel and Skeex wait in the car while Walt stops to go into a store. While sitting in the back seat, two of Rachel’s friends happen to walk by, and say hello. As they are leaving, Walt comes out of the store and is walking back, while Rachel’s friends are duly impressed – Rachel must have a great job if it comes with a car and chauffeur! (implied to be Walt)

80: Judy and neighborhood kid Peter are fighting like cats and dogs! In the topper, Corky can’t stand up for his sister because Mom sent him to the store for some milk.

75: I don’t know about post-war paint shortages, though I imagine military production priorities could have made it hard to get much of any color than grey or olive green, heh. But it looks like Mr. Turps made a nice sale, and the partners are well stocked. Skeex is giving Wilmer a lot of respect for his wheeler-dealing.

60: Now Judy and Walt have to go through an uncomfortable period of waiting for Phyllis to thaw out over the whole groom-switch operation.

Well, I am glad to see that the car is Gertie’s. I suspect she will recognize the sincerity and gentlemanly nature of Joel… and will be forgiving of this incident… especially if Rufus doesn’t stick his foot in his mouth like he usually does.

I know Joel will do his damnedest to make this situation right for Gertie.
