This is a reference comment for people who want to read about and discuss the history of Gasoline Alley and allow them to put their comments in replies. Those who don’t can bypass the discussion by leaving the replies closed. Fair for everyone, I think.

100: Mark of the Devil, a driver comes to ruin!

80: Would you believe Chigger bought that piece for only six bucks? It was a small price toupée…

75: You can take the top kick out of the Army, but you can’t take the Army out of… (In the topper, Hugo is also in a nautical mood, but runs into a different problem.)

60: Détente, years before some golfer from San Clemente would try it with Brezhnev. Of course Phyllis only has one daughter, so it was inevitable she’d get past her disappointment.

We can see in today’s panels that it was (of course) Rufus’ doings that lead to the damage to Gertie’s automobile. I always knew that sagely gentleman Joel would keep working hard to make amends and do the right thing. He always does.

Gertie you fit right in with these clowns. In the May 3 strip you see this happening as you approach your car, now you ask how it happened ? Really short attention span lady !
