GATURRO: Gordo tells Gaturro that the “elastic bed” (trampoline) is not for sleeping, it’s for jumping. Panel 1: Let’s get up! Panel 4: Go! Doesn’t Gordo know that the most important thing that cats do is….SLEEP?! I love the expressions on the sleeping/sleepy cat!
MARY WORTH: Iris comes up with a dated comment, and her date doesn’t get it. I think they call it a “generation gap,” and it’s a clue as to what is going to sink this relationship.
FUNKY W: A crossover appearance by Crankshaft, the bus driver.
CRANKSHAFT: A miscalculation by Crankshaft, the bus driver.
PHANTOM: Orson Burley’s driver chimes in, to no avail. But when did Ms. Ogutu tell Burley about The Phantom? What date (our time)???
David, I wanted to comment on today’s “Mary Worth,” but it’s Greek to me. can you please comment on my behalf: MARY WORTH: This proves the generational difference. Zak didn’t understand the reference to “kid,” and probably doesn’t even realize that “Bogie” is Humphrey Bogart and may not even know who he is.
JP: @ TEH – Yes, Honey was found right away, while the emergency vehicles were still at the accident scene. Someone at CK commented that they really liked panel 2 today, and I agree with that comment. However, I still think this long and dark story would be better suited for a graphic novel, rather than a daily comic strip.
MW: @ ARYE – That’s sort of what I was trying to say (above). But it’s good you brought up the Bogie/Bogart name for greater clarity. IMDB Trivia has some info. on the line and says it was in use in the 30s prior to the Casablanca movie in ’42. Humphrey B. was born in the 19th Century and he has now been gone for some 60 years (1899 – 1957)! I know the Bogart films from television viewings in years past (I was not a moviegoer back in his heyday).
Mary Worth – My mother used to call my father “kid”. They were married in 1929.There was also a quote, “I love my wife, but oh, you kid!”
Judge Parker – This should still be an open case, with the police questioning both Honey and Sophie, and insisting on (possibly providing) psychological help.
I did a search for the line I quoted above. It’s from a pop song of 1909. Some interesting pictures and an article on SLATE. Also said it’s been forgotten by all but a few antiquarians. Guess that puts me in my place.

Phantom – Arrogant fool!
Funky Winkerbean – Funny!
Mandrake – What does Derek have in mind? Hypnotizing the chief to kill Mandrake?

Gaturro Another strip that doesn’t need much translation.
MW I like Josh Read’s (Comics Curmudgeon) take on this conversation and how it could continue.
