I hate carpets. More work than its worth. Got rid of it, vinyl tiled where it used to be and use area rugs that can be cleaned easier than a carpet. Turned out to be the best idea I ever had. All the dirt that collected under the pad over the years from the previous owners and nearly ten years after with us, I had to do a lot of bag changing to get it all. And even then I had to vacuum more thoroughly as I laid the tile. Wondered why it felt a bit lumpy under the carpet. Nice flat floor now.
