we went to the Ormond Beach pier (this was decades ago) and were sitting there having a good time, and after a couple of hours a couple of the other fishermen that were there came over and asked you folks haven’t caught anything yet – what are you using for bait? i looked up at him, was sitting on pier, and replied…“bait? we don’t even have hooks on the lines.”

Artie, if he baits his hook he may get a bite. If he gets a bite it will interrupt his beer drinking.

Had a friend. His first cast, he caught a musky. He took off the lure, put on a weight, and just enjoyed drinking beer on the lake.

Why bait the hook if you only want to relax. Best way to fish sometimes. If you catch one well score bonus and a volunteer fish dinner.

The problem with “stoned” fishing is that you may wind up eating the bait. :)
