Except for the South in the American Civil War. The created the entire myth of States Rights and the Lost Cause, as well as many other lies. The South wrote their “history” before real history even began its investigation.

Actually New world history didn’t really start until the Europeans arrived, because Europeans had a written language developed to chronicle their history, and only some Native American tribes had systems of writing, such as pictographs or petroglyphs, but not alphabetic writing systems like those used in Europe. Plus victors do write usually write history.

History books go way back before the year zero.

The South was lucky the North did not do to them what so many conquerors have done in the past.

They can still fly the Confederate Battle Flag and and express their views, whereas most other countries in similar situations would consider them traitors and would have executed the lot of them, or drove them out of the country.

America would be a different place now if we had done that – but for once, history didn’t repeat itself.

Are history books that go back before the year zero considered to be prequels …?
