Conversation as expected, satchel isn’t keeping up. Actually nobody is keeping up

Is that a bag of “potato things” that Satchel is raiding in the last panel?

How is it possible that by 2012 Satchel does not recognize Mac? I thought maybe this was a re-run of Mac’s introduction, but what I found is that his depiction is very inconsistent.

He started as a beige cat, no hat:

Then he became all orange (note that the colorist screwed up and gave him a red hat, which would be aligned with Manchester United while he is clearly a fan of Manchester City):

Later, he was all brown with green eyes, and his cap was finally blue but way too dark:

Furthermore, he got different coloring in some re-runs. Like in this strip, where he originally had the all-orange, red-hat coloring:

but when re-run two years later, he had the “current” one:

And note that Foodar also changed, from brown-and-white to gray-and-white, but Chubby Hugs didn’t.
