Oh the memories! My brother and I did this when we were kids. My mother got fed up with it and one year she only wrote numbers on the gifts so we didn’t know which ones were ours.
When I was ten in 1971, my favorite singer was Cher. Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves had just come out. I found a present under the tree. Looked like a record album. I was so excited. Carefully, opened it, slit the plastic covering very carefully, as well, and listened to the whole album. Slid the record back into the sleeve, rewrapped it, and put it back under the tree. I was still so excited when I “opened” it Christmas morning! Both of my parents are gone now. I don’t think I ever told them that I did that.

It would be a mighty funny gag gift; if Mom wrapped up a box w/ 3 bricks inside! (⊙.☉) ʱªʱªʱª
