The runner from first got down to second pretty quickly – either that or she’s the runner from second and Whigham has her running the wrong. Al-Jo speared a liner and wound up in the vicinity of second base when she hit the ground, which couldn’t have been very long. Clearly not long enough for the second baseman to get over to cover the bag. Also, it looks like Steve Luhm has started polishing tables wherever Hobart and his colleague are working. What ever happened to him anyway? Don’t you just love how people disappear all the time in Milford? Thorp kids anyone?
I’m with chiphilton… Hobart appears to be terribly worried that numbers over at WDIG have taken a dive ever since the rivalry with Paul Strange and WMFD fizzled out. Hobert should be concerned that the man with the giants jowls is not thinking so clearly.
Speaking of which, where is Paul Strange these days? Maybe he got sent down to do Grammer School sports for one of Milford feeder schools.
In P3 the 2 owners of Milford Apparel can’t figure why their new style creation - the buttonless pullover suit coat (as worn by Hobart) hasn’t achieved good sales numbers. Theyve got their manufacturing costs down -using Gil’s kids in a Thai sweatshop. Things will turn around when they get Lini as a spokesman/model.
“I’m looking at the same numbers, Hobart, and it looks like Gil’s gambling habit has him draining the athletic budget of at least half amillion. A large man named Vito was here yesterday looking for Gil. He said he had a Louisville Slugger he wanted to show Gil. What could that mean?”
Wow- what I wouldn’t give to see a sports page in the Milford Herald- I’ll bet the entire population can’t wait to read about Mimi’s incredible softball team and the exciting double play that ended the game. Does anybody know how I can get to the online version?
“The Gilfather’s numbers racket is not doing bad. You have to admit, Gilfather selling his kids and other kids unimportant to GoComics.com to a black market organ transplant dealer brought in some pretty good change. Now all we gotta do is to keep cutting back on the artistic talent and we should stay in the black for a long time.”

But we’ve got to pink slip someone….

Marty’s ratings are down? Actually, I’ll bet there’s a budget crunch in Milford and a sport might be dropped.

Mimi and Marjie. Truly a real double play.

I’m guessing from the looks of things those numbers are from c. 1958…

Hey, I’m right here, HooDad.
You stole my planned comments about the runner almost beating the line drive to second base.

I see a budget cutback coming – a certain Milford coach could be out of a job.

I’ve never seen a high school where all the sports receive the media attention given in Milf.

Marjie seems to be eyeing Mimi’s twin peaks.

“Oh, and Hobart, while you’re up could you grab a fresh roll of paper for the adding machine?”

Maybe the hit and run was on and she got a really good jump.
