My school sends out a weekly eligibility sheet – one for athletics, one for other extracurriculars (band, clubs). A student has one week to raise a failing grade or he/she falls from Probation to Ineligible.
As far as today’s strip goes, I thought Amy would be on the 15-day DL with a bad haircut. And how many “Live Strong” bracelets does she need in P2?
In P2 Amy is stunned as to why her friend took 5 minutes to reply to the comment she made in the hallway in P1.After staring at blank panels for 30 minutes trying to come up with something, here’s today’s MUT. I have to admit it is better than blank panels.
Long time, first time. Just wanted to introduce myself. I grew up in Chicago area and have been reading GT for at least 45 years. Read it every day here as well. While the strip is awesome the comments are the best part and felt a need to be a part of them so I got an account and username so I can (hopefully) add to the discussion. BTW Mop your MUT is fantastic.
They’re telling the students that “she flunked a big Spanish test”, but the REAL story is that she was getting “tutored” in Spanish by Mimi’s boyfriend Pedro the Pool Boy. Mimi takes revenge by ruling her ineligible.

Is there any way a school could or would keep track of GPA’s on a daily basis?

“Well, you better come to life. I heard Coach Thorp got bombed and cursed out the Spanish teacher, which makes her suspended and YOU the coach.”

For all we know, the test that was bombed caused her to flunk the semester.
It could always be, of course, that either Milford HS or the Valley Conference has stricter standards.

In Michigan you were ineligible any week you were flunking a class.

Is that a “murse” in P1. That boy is begging to be picked on.

In all reality, Lucky will worry about Amy playing left field thus transfering all of her worry to him.

Yep, coaches at our school get grade reports on a weekly basis – nothing unusual there.
Amy is becoming the Swiss Army Knife of the team. Suspension? Amy! Injury? Amy! Academics? Amy! Not feeling fresh? Amy!

Now, we’ll have some tension when a depressed Lucky finds out Amy’s playing the field!

Weekly eligibility slips? I had no idea. Glad this system wasn’t in place back in my day. I would have missed a few games, too.
