Boy, you have to hand it to Gil. If the Millard coach knew that Milford planned to smother ‘em early, control the ball and own the clock, the Mudlarks wouldn’t have a chance. Good thing he didn’t tell Marty.

Play the sixty minute game! Give it 110%! Leave it all on the field! Know your role and do your job! Fifty-four forty or fight! Remember the Wilmot Proviso!

Gil is unfailingly rude to Marty. Harder and harder to tell who’s supposed to be the good guy. Any chance we’ll get to see Marty interview Uncle Gary? I’d love to see them both in the same panel. Unk would make a great halftime guest.

It’s a little early for good tidings and cheer. After all, smothering the Millard Mallards with Mudlark love, controlling the evening’s festivities of the ball and providing them with a timely parting gift, are showers out of the question?

I’m not aware that Tom and Dick are still performing. I recall a Jim Rome interview with Steve Elkington- Elk was no fan of theirs. Odd strategy nonetheless.

P3: “uh, umm…uhh, smother them early, and, um, uh, control the clock, and let’s see…..um, uh, own the clock, and um….oh yeah! lets take it to them…yeah, that’s it…let’s take it to them …sorry, guys, it’s been a while since I’ve done this coaching thing”

For one second I actually thought Gil was talking to Uncle Tonoose in panel one. This is really like Clark Kent and Superman. The only difference ‘is’ the glasses.

I know Starfish started this Uncle Tonoose stuff I was just curious how many of you younger guys know who Uncle Tonoose was.

P-1: Inquiring minds want to know

P-2: To quote an old Little Rascals Film: “I know, but I won’t tell you!”

P-3: Pre-Game Multiple Choice Test. Gil is more than a Coach. He’s a Mentor.

Great pre-game speech by…every coach of every team on every level that ever played football. Well it works upward of 50% of the time.

The obvious follow up to P1, that I am stunned nobody has said yet, was that Gil should have ended that with, “but then I’d have to kill you.” Not that his game plan was some huge secret, based on P3, but Gil would just in general like to kill Marty. And speaking of killing, you can kill a minute or so reading today’s Mopped Up Thorp.
