“Marty, we’re not happy with YOU because you are not Howard Cosell!” For those of you who don’t know, Howard, sometimes called, “Howard the Duck,” was a famous unicorn roper and rider who appeared Monday nights at football games.
Breaking News :::::: Milford Daily Herald American Tribune Sun Times Trumpet reports that 2 losers/ non qualifying Junior Golfers were reported missing after they failed to return from the Milford CC Jr Invitational . Footage from surveillance cameras show them getting into a car with Milford Coach Gil Thorp and their participation trophies . Thorp has been named as a person of interest , in all reality .
Hmm…here, we have a rookie quarterback named Mike Filion, while in the real world, there is a TV cop show called “The Rookie,” starring Nathan Fillion.
Unfortunately, Marty’s question is probably closer to some of the questions sports writers throw around to people like Nick Saban, Joe Maddon, Belichek, etc. when one of them makes a similar statement.

Judging from those shadows it’s either sunrise or sunset. Odd time for football practice either way.

And assuming that’s five yards between the stripes, Gil must be nine feet tall.

I think P1 and P2 are a subtle nod to what we always comment on, the annual “star player magically enrolls at Milford” every year.
P3 – Marty suddenly awakens with a vengeance.

This year’s unicorn: Polish exchange student and movie aficionado, Joe Bolek. Inspired by the movie “Rudy”. Probably a kicker.

Panel 3: I hope Gil is not whipping it out for either reporter’s benefit! His hand is in a suspicious spot.
