    Australia went completely metric in 1975. Kids don’t know what inches are these days.

    While Ginger may be over 90 years old, he probably does not remember inches and feet from before those days.

    I was surprised for a moment that he didn’t know what an inch was. Here in Mexico, I’ve know about those since 1st grade.

    Not likely. Arlo is a storyteller, after all. :) We do know the old system, since metric was only partially introduced by the wimps in government. We still look at meat advertised as $X per pound, though it’s sold by the kilo. And all three of our sons, 15 to 22 yrs old, know inches and feet. What the younger two CANNOT do is tell the time from a clock with a dial. “Quarter to three” means nothing to them, but “Two forty five” makes perfect sense.

    We went metric here in the U.S., but it didn’t work out for us.
